Slaughter Says New Health Care Rules Will Help Small Businesses in Western New York

May 2010

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) issued the following statement in response to a new series of rules that will help small businesses afford health care coverage. The new changes, issued this morning, ensure that small business owners can receive tax credits from the federal government if they provide dental and vision coverage in addition to health care coverage to their workers.

“I am happy to see the administration so quickly implementing one of the most important pieces of the historic health care bill,” said Slaughter. “Small businesses are the backbone of this nation’s economy and these tax credits will help them compete in the global marketplace. Last week President Obama was in Buffalo to discuss our effort to help small businesses and he called small businesses like Industrial Support, Inc. the true engine of job creation. His reminder that many small businesses have had to decide between health care and hiring is further proof that today’s announcement from the Small Business Administration is good news for small businesses across Western New York.”
