Slaughter, Thousands to Send Karl Rove His Pink Slip

New Website Will Deliver Pink Slips To White House

Washington, DC – Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY, Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee, today announced an online grassroots campaign targeting Karl Rove. In recent days Rep. Slaughter has called on President Bush to keep his word and fire Mr. Rove for leaking the identity of Valerie Plame, an undercover CIA agent.

The new online venture (www.RovesPinkSlip.com) will enable ordinary Americans to send personalized pink slips to Mr. Rove at the White House.

“I’ve started this campaign to send along our own pink slips to Karl Rove because the President refuses to do it himself,” said Rep. Slaughter. She continued, “If the White House ends up knee deep in pink paper, perhaps the President will finally keep his word and give Mr. Rove the official pink slip he so greatly deserves.”

Thousands have already completed their own personal pink slips. In the coming days, Rep. Slaughter expects tens of thousands more will do the same.

Rep. Slaughter continued, “It is time to hold the President accountable. He made a promise to the American people that he’d fire whoever leaked the identity of Valerie Plame, an undercover CIA agent. Now that we know the leaker was, at least in part, Karl Rove; it is time for the President to keep his word.”

“Putting the life of an undercover CIA agent and our national security in jeopardy cannot be tolerated. Karl Rove clearly deserves his pink slip, and we’re going to give it to him,” concluded Rep. Slaughter.
