Child sex trafficking is a horrible crime and Louise Slaughter is fighting to stop it. She co-sponsored a law that improves the foster care system, including enhanced data reporting and training of child protective services workers to help identify child victims and get them help.

This legislation requires states to develop plans for protecting children, including procedures for identifying children known or suspected to be victims of trafficking, training child protective services employees to appropriately respond to reports of trafficking, and procedures for connecting child victims to support services.

Louiseā€™s provisions, incorporated in the Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act of 2014, will benefit organizations across the country working with trafficked youth, including The Center for Youth in Rochester.
